Kristine Larson becomes highest-ranking African-American female in dept. history.

Kristine: New Assistant Chief

Assistant Chief Kristine Larson

LAFD: Battalion Chief Kristine Larson has been promoted to Assistant Chief, LAFD. She is the highest-ranking African-American female in the history of the department.

With more than three decades of experience in the field, she is now assigned to lead the new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Bureau. During her illustrious career, she has served as a Fire Inspector, Captain I, Captain II and Battalion Chief—among other notable accomplishments. She will continue to excel in her new role and contribute immensely to the department.

Before her current rank as Section Commander, she was assigned to Battalion 18 and 13 as a Battalion Commander; Captain II at Fire Station 74; and Drill Master at Drill Tower 81. As a Captain I, she has worked at Fire Stations 47, 58, and Drill Tower 81. And before becoming a Captain, she was already accomplished as a Fire Inspector.
