Airport Police’s new state-of-the-art headquarters on track for late summer opening.
For the first time in Airport Police history, every part of the organization will be housed under one roof when its new $220 million headquarters building opens in late summer.
The nearly 500,000 square feet facility, which is under construction on the Westchester Parkway and Loyola Boulevard adjoining LAX’s north runways, sits on 12 acres. It will consist of 165,000 square-foot headquarters building; a four-story, 340,000 square foot parking facility with 863 stalls; a firing range; K9 kennels; traffic and security team space; meeting/conference rooms; locker rooms; holding facilities; administrative offices; roll call facilities; training facilities; and functional outdoor spaces.
The new building will consolidate eight separate facilities, many of them trailers, into one campus. When fully occupied, the new headquarters will house more than 2,000 employees, both sworn and civilian.
Alive! hopes to have more on this important project after it opens.
