West Valley Sanitation collects more than 300 toys for children in need, a 50 percent increase.

Hundreds of Toys

West Valley Sanitation culminated its hugely successful 2019 toy drive with a crew lunch and holiday party Dec. 11.

The drive, featured on the December 2016 cover of Alive!, collected an estimated 300 toys. That’s 50 percent more than the yard collected last year.

Just some of the haul of toys collected and given to needy area children.

“That’s approximately 300 kids or more who will get something for Christmas,” explained Brian Sibert, Refuse Collection Truck Operator II, who spearheads the annual drive. “Thanks to all Club Members who contributed.”

As in previous years, the toys were donated to the Guadalupe Center, a Catholic Charities operation in the West Valley, which adds hot meals to the package when delivering the goods to the needy.

The Club donated raffle prizes to the West Valley holiday lunch.
