West Valley Sanitation collects more than 200 toys for children in need.

Hundreds of Toys

West Valley Sanitation culminated its 2018 toy drive with a crew lunch and holiday party Dec. 12.

The drive, featured on the December 2016 cover of Alive!, collected an estimated 200 toys. The toys were still coming in at press time; numbers could reach approximately 300.

“That’s approximately 200 kids or more who will get something for Christmas,” explained Brian Sibert, Refuse Collection Truck Operator II, who spearheads the annual drive.

The toys were donated to the Guadalupe Center, a Catholic Charities operation in the West Valley, which adds hot meals to the package when delivering the goods to the needy.

The West Valley luncheon included tri-tip, barbecue chicken and lots of sides. The Club donated raffle prizes to the holiday lunch.
