The St. Baldrick’s head-shave event – a fundraiser managed by members of the LAPD and LAFD – returns for its second year in person after a pandemic hiatus.

St. Baldrick’s invites to people to have their heads shaved bald, and to raise sponsors for their endeavor. The event raises funds nationally to fight childhood cancers.

The 21st annual LAPD/LAFD event has been scheduled for 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at The Vineyards at Porter Ranch, 20065 Rinaldi St. The event includes a free breakfast, face-painting and rides for the family, live music, and more.

Councilmember John Lee and the Council District 12 office sponsors the event. This is the 21st annual local event; original Co-Organizers were Retired LAFD Capt. Waldie Brangham and Retired LAPD Lt. Greg Doyle. The 2023 event co-organizers are once again LAFD Capt. Danny Wu, Club Board Member, who took over in 2007, and LAPD Det. Nick Sinclair, who took over in 2015.

Local organizers say they have raised more than $1 million over the previous 20 years. The local event is part of the nationwide St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The Club has been an official sponsor annually.
