Safety agencies host local celebration of National Dispatchers Week.

At the Council Meeting April 11 honoring Dispatchers were (from left) PSR II Lillian Serrato, PSR II Katie Avlas, Commander Victor Davalos (back), PSR II Brandi Holley, Sr. PSR. Maria Moreno, Chief Dominic Choi, PSR III Guadalupe De La Cruz, Councilwoman Traci Park, PSR III Chance Chavez (back), Sr. PSR I Maria Ramos, Capt. Alejandro Vargas (back), Sr. PSR I Naila Hay, Sr. PSR II Deborah Ramsey, Sr. PSR I Steven McKeehan, and unknown.

The LAPD celebrated National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week – popularly known as National Dispatchers Week – April 10-14, honoring its dispatchers with ceremonies and honors.

In 1992, President George H. Bush established National Dispatchers’ Week to honor police dispatchers for providing vital emergency services to their community nationwide. The LAPD has been celebrating it ever since.

Honors for employees of the year and pins for service were distributed. Photos below picture the festivities at the Metro Communications Center.
