That warning grows louder and more dire with each passing week, right? It feels like the current era’s version of “don’t cross your eyes” or “don’t run with scissors.”
Only much more dangerous – multiply those dangers of old by one billion, per day – the number of cyberthreats the City receives every single day. The current danger could take down a home network or a City without vigilance.
Preventing that from happening is the growing and ever-more-complicated task of ITA’s Cyberthreat Prevention Program, a comprehensive suite of professional staff members, gear and employee training programs to keep the City clear of those one billion threats it faces every day.
Read all about their challenge in this month’s very important story. The employee cyber-guardians might not wear white cowboy hats, but they are every bit as heroic.
We thank Club Member Ted Ross, ITA General Manager and Chief Information Officer, and Tim Lee, Chief Security Information Officer, also a Club Member, for sharing their important work with Alive! readers. We also thank Maryam Abbassi, Assistant General Manager and Assistant Chief Information Officer, Club Member; and Madeline Dia of the Information Security Office; for making the story happen and ensuring it was safe to report.

We last visited Ted and his critically important ITA team during the COVID pandemic, as they set up in record time a communications system so City employees could work safely from home. ITA keeps on serving the City in urgent and irreplaceable ways.
Thank you, ITA, for all you do.

Storied Service
As I peruse the monthly retirement list here in Alive!, I enjoy calling out those Retiring after major dedication. I tip my Club cap this month to Nancy J. Nix, Young Adult Librarian, who Retired recently from the Library after an incredible 49 years of City service. Thank you, Nancy!
Worth Considering
True leadership lies not just in teaching skills, but in igniting a vision that empowers others to reimagine what’s possible and chart their own path forward. Leadership is like being the chef in a busy kitchen. It’s not about hogging the spotlight with your own dish but crafting a menu where every ingredient (and person) shines. Bonus points if no one’s left hungry…or burned!
