Richard Coulson, Assistant General Manager for Fleet, retires after 34 years of City service.

Richard Coulson, Assistant General Manager for Fleet Services, retired in September. He had 34 years of City service.

As the longtime Director of Fleet Services, then the Assistant General Manager for Fleet Services, he oversaw the division’s mission to maintain and dispatch safe, reliable and appropriate vehicles and equipment for City departments in the most cost efficient manner possible. That included approximately 10,600 vehicles used by 24 departments, Mayor and Council offices, and the overall motor pool.

Fleet Services also oversaw aircraft for the LAPD, LAFD and the LADWP.

He was instrumental in beginning the City’s move toward employing electric vehicles.

Congratulations on your retirement, Richard!
