Flags and Poems Fly
The Olympic and Paralympic flag display is complemented by displays of memorabilia commemorating the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Angelenos from all corners of the City are encouraged to visit the exhibits at Los Angeles City Hall, which will celebrate L.A.’s history as part of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement through the 100th anniversary of City Hall in 2028.
Library/Cultural Affairs
Los Angeles Public Library, Cultural Affairs and Venice-based Beyond Baroque literary society held “Catch the Mic: Paris to Los Angeles” at Central Library Sept. 7. “Catch the Mic” featured performances by more than 30 Los Angeles poets commissioned to write on the theme “Art + Sports,” and also included a live streamed event from Paris.
The finale of an international Poetry Marathon, the event celebrated the cultural handover from the Paris 2024 Olympics to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
