John’s comment: It helps that many in the Club are USC alumni, including yours truly! From an image perspective, I enjoy how you got so much information in one frame, without overloading it. It’s well composed, the depth is impressive, and … oh, forget all that. Let’s face it: It’s USC, and that works for me! Fight on! (Any who disagree, submit a photo!)

July 2023: Red, White and Blue
This picture was taken at Plitvice Park, Croatia. I was trying to capture the catwalk and the surrounding bluish water. The white clouds and lady in red make this picture one of my favorite shots.”

John’s comment: Your photo might not have been patriotic for July, Larry, but the theme was red, white and blue, and you submitted a truly beautiful shot. I have been to Croatia but not to this spot, but I must put it on my list to visit next time. The simplicity of the composition is its secret power. Well done!

John’s comment: Whoa, Alex, what a stunner. The colors are saturated, and the waves so textured that it really made me feel the challenge that this foil-boarder is facing. Thanks for submitting, and all of us, I ask we send a quiet wish for Hawaii right now. Beautiful land, devastated and down, but Lahaina on Maui has our best thoughts and hopes.

Picture Perfect Contest Rules
- Please submit the full, original digital file (up to 3 megs file size).
- The contest is open to all Club members in good standing. Non-members are welcome to submit, but only Club members are eligible to win the monthly prize.
- Photos can be of any subject matter: vacation, portraits, families, landscapes, still lifes, pets, etc. Subject matter must be appropriate for Alive!
- If your photograph does not win, you are welcome to re-submit.
- Winners are chosen by Club staff. All decisions will be final.
- You must certify (if asked) that you indeed took the picture. No ringers!
- The contest is all in good fun: The Club cannot be responsible for delays in delivering Alive!, or for delays in the transmission of responses.
