John Lands at LAX
John Ackerman, a longtime aviation industry executive most recently the Executive Vice President of Global Strategy and Development at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), was nominated as the new CEO of Los Angeles World Airports by Mayor Karen Bass, and later confirmed by the City Council Dec. 12.
He replaces Justin Erbacci, who left the position earlier in 2023 for a similar position in Saudi Arabia.
LAX is expected to see major developments open in 2024, including its foundational new system of accessing the airport through a people mover system.
John Ackerman is expected to begin as CEO of Los Angeles World Airports in February following several months of service from Interim CEO Bea Hsu. Hsu helped continue major capital improvement programs and deliver world-class airports during this period of transition.
Ackerman mostly recently served as the Executive Vice President of Global Strategy and Development at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Ackerman has a decade of experience in the aviation industry. Before managing Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Ackerman was the Chief Commercial Officer at Denver International Airport (DEN). He has also worked with United Airlines as a Managing Director of Customer Experience.
