Paul Dominguez retires after 36 years of City service.

Harbor: A retirement reception was held in late February for Alfonso “Paul” Dominguez, who retired as Sr. Construction Inspector at the Harbor.

Paul began his City career in 1985 with the LADWP as a Civil Engineering Drafting Technician in the Water Operating Division. He was promoted to Field Engineering Aide in 1988 and was assigned at the LADWP West Valley Water District.

He transferred to Public Works/Contract Administration as a Public Works Construction Inspector in 1992. He worked in a number of large projects, including the Hyperion Water Treatment Plant Expansion and Griffith Park Observatory Renovation.

Paul was promoted to Sr. Construction Inspector in 1992 and was assigned in various municipal bond projects, including the L.A. City Hall seismic retrofit and L.A. Police Administration Building.

Paul transferred to the Harbor Dept. in 2015 to help the Port in their expansion to be one of the nation’s largest port. He was recognized by his supervisors for his motivational leadership and “can do” spirit and going beyond the call of duty to actively support the goals of the Harbor Dept. and Construction Division.
