In a ceremony June 27 at Los Angeles Police Headquarters across the street from the Club Store, longtime LAPD Officer, leader and Chief Charlie Beck retired from the department on his 65th birthday.

A ceremony was held on the south lawn of the headquarters, where he left the building for the last time in his previous capacity.

Chief Beck Tweeted on that day: “Serving the City of Los Angeles for 43 years has been the honor of my lifetime. To every person who has ever lived in, worked in, or visited Los Angeles, and to my family – thank you. To the men and women of the #LAPD, you are in good hands.”

The department’s new Chief, Michel Moore, spoke at a public event on June 28, a day after he was sworn in in Council Chambers in City Hall as LA’s new chief.

From everyone at the Club, thank you for your dedicated and distinguished service to the City, Chief Beck. And best wishes, Chief Moore, as you begin your new post.
