Life Savers
LAPD: On Jan. 26, 2022, four LAPD Officers who saved a downed pilot’s life were honored for their heroic act by Congressman (and former Councilman) Tony Cardenas and the Montague Charter Academy Elementary School.
The four Officers – Sgt. Joseph Cavestany and Officers Christopher Aboyte, Robert Sherock and Damien Castro – pulled the unidentified pilot out of the cockpit of his small private plane that experienced mechanical failure and landed on Metrolink railroad tracks in Pacoima. Only moments later, a Metrolink train collided with the downed plane. Their quick actions saved the man’s life.
