Last October, the Port of Los Angeles promoted Cecilia Moreno, a veteran Harbor employee, to be its new Community Relations Director. Moreno now oversees the Port’s community relations team, special events, administration of the department’s Community Investment Grants program, and manages the Port’s sponsorships and memberships.

“Cecilia brings a wealth of knowledge and direct experience with our Port community to this position,” said Harbor Executive Director Gene Seroka. “We are fortunate to have Cecilia’s expertise and experience as we work to strengthen our community relations and communications throughout all of our Harbor communities.”

Moreno joined the Harbor Dept. in 2006 as a Community Affairs Advocate, representing the stakeholders of her hometown of Wilmington. During her tenure at the Port, she has become a recognized leader in the harbor area. She was a founding member of the Wilmington Neighborhood Council and has served as a board member for the Wilmington YMCA, Friends of Banning’s Landing and the Harbor Division Community-Police Advisory Board.

Having served on the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce board of directors for more than 20 years – many of them as a board member – Moreno was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Chamber.

Moreno replaces Theresa Adams Lopez, who retired from the Harbor earlier in 2023.

Congratulations, Cecilia!
