Airport Police Chief David L. Maggard Jr. swore-in four new officers following a graduation ceremony held April 12 at the Los Angeles Police Academy in Elysian Park.

It was a proud day for the 44 new officers of LAPD Academy Class 10B-18, which included four new Airport Police Officers. Officer Evan Baltierra, a former Marine, and Officer Christian Quinones, a former US Army paratrooper, bring their military experience, discipline and work ethic to the Airport Police. Officer Pablo Garcia, Academy Vice President, is already a member of the APD family and now makes the transition from civilian security to the sworn side of the division. Officer Oscar Ventura rounds out the graduates. Officer Ventura held the position of graduation class secretary, which comes as no surprise to those who know him. The graduate of Cerritos College and a former banking professional is no stranger to leadership roles.

The four new Airport Police Officers will now begin a six-month Field Training Program specific to aviation law enforcement under the guidance of a Field Training Officer. Upon completion, they will be assigned to the Patrol Services Section.
Congratulations to the new graduates!
