Goodbye, Gregg
Last summer, the Board of Public Works held a special recognition on the retirement of Gregg Vandergriff, Principal Civil Engineer in charge of the Project Award and Control Division. He retired after 34 years of City service.
A native of Oklahoma, he joined the bureau in 1989, working at the Donald C. Tillman Plant, then was promoted to Sanitation and Environment in the Recycling Division. He then was promoted to Sanitary Engineering Associate in the former Environmental Engineering Division, working on treatment plant projects. After a brief stint working for Airports at Ontario when the City owned it, he then was promoted to Civil Engineer in the Central District in the Bureau of Engineering, working many years in the Development Services Program. In 2020, he was promoted to Principal Civil Engineer over the Project Award and Control Divisions.
The Board of Public Works gave Gregg a certificate that read in part: “In recognition of 34 years of employment with the City of Los Angeles, the Board of Public Works honors Charles Gregory Vandergriff. Congratulations on your many years of distinguished service and achievement and public service. Your professionalism and dedication to the Dept. of Public Works and the citizens of the City of Los Angeles is to be commended. Best wishes for your future health, prosperity and happiness.”
