Goodbye, Graham
A ceremony was held Jan. 27 in City Council chambers to note the retirement of Dep. Chief Graham Everett, Executive Bureau Commander.
He retires after 34 years of City service.
Deputy Chief Graham Everett comes from a family of firefighters. He is a fourth-generation LAFD firefighter, and his wife is a Retired member of the LAFD. He joined the LAFD in 1989.
After obtaining his paramedic license and serving various field assignments, he was promoted in 1999 to Captain I, in 2003 to Captain II, and in 2007 to Battalion Chief.
He served in new-at-the-time sections including Risk Management Section in 2004 and as the Internal Affairs Section Commander in the Professional Standards Division in 2008.
He was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2014 as the Chief of Staff to then-Chief Ralph Terrazas’ executive administration. In 2016, Chief Everett became the first appointed Deputy Chief to serve as Chief of Staff. He developed the Chief of Staff Office to become the Administration Bureau in 2016. In 2022, the Administration Bureau was re-named the Executive Bureau. In that role, he oversaw intergovernmental relations with the elected offices, served as an integral component of the Fire Chief’s Command Staff, and implemented the mission and direction of the Fire Chief. He supervised the execution of the Department’s multi-year budget and strategic plan, and provided liaison for important partnerships, including the Board of Fire Commissioners, the LAFD Scholarship Awards Program, MySafe LA, and the LAFD Foundation.
