Public Works: Keith Mozee, StreetsLA’s Assistant Director for the last five years and a 31-year City employee, was confirmed July 1 as the next Executive Director of the department (Street Services). He was confirmed unanimously by the City Council.
“I thank Mayor Garcetti and the City Council for giving me this opportunity at what is a critical juncture for the City and the Bureau,” Mozee (pronounced mo-ZAY) said in a statement. “I am committed to constantly improving our services, enhancing the look and feel of our streets and neighborhoods, creating safe and healthy communities for all Angelenos, and supporting the hardworking women and men who have made StreetsLA a national leader on issues of sustainability, equity and service excellence.”
StreetsLA is the nation’s largest street network and urban forest.
His predecessor, Adel Hagekhalil, left StreetsLA to become the new General Manager for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the nation’s largest drinking water provider, June 30. Adel will be able to continue his Club Membership at the MWD. The Club congratulates Adel on his new position and thanks him for his assistance.
As Assistant Director of StreetsLA, Mozee oversaw the Street Renewal Division, Engineering Division, Construction Services Division and Emergency Operations. During his 31 years of service to the City, he also served as StreetsLA’s Chief Operations Officer, Racial Equity Officer and COVID-19 Safety Officer.
Keith accompanied the Club as we profiled its continued efforts during the pandemic to front-load several road projects early and take advantage of the lack of traffic.
Congratulations, Keith. The Club looks forward to working with you in the future to highlight the great work your employees are doing to keep LA moving.
