Phil Orland
RLACEI Board President
Phil Orland was elected to the RLACEI Board for the second time last November and was installed at the annual meeting and holiday party in December.
Phil’s vision is to make sure all Retirees, through RLACEI, enjoy their retirement beyond their careers by providing services and programs that ensure quality of life and that retirees are able to support themselves and their families.
He is an active senior who has led a life of serving others. He is a proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam war. He has been married for 29 years and has four children and three grandchildren.
Phil began his City career as a Recreation Leader and retired from Rec and Parks as a Principal Recreation Supervisor in January 2010 after serving 36 years with the City.
Throughout his City career, he has made it a habit of gathering information and networking with others. Phil finds pleasure in talking with people and helping those in need of services.
Phil was recently appointed as a board member to the Insurance Services Board of the Employees Club of California. He also serves as a board member for the professional organization Men in Leisure Services raising
money to provide training and networking opportunities for those in the recreation field. He also serves on the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Orange County and is an ambassador to the Korean Bell of Friendship Committee. In 2015, Phil received the Alumni Community Service Award from Cal State Long Beach.
Phil’s vision is to work closely with City administration and LACERS to maintain benefits and services.
