Honoring the Earth

On April 27, Public Works/LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) held its fourth annual Earth Day LA celebration, this year at Woodley Park in Van Nuys. Michelle Trujillo, Telemundo 52’s weekday weather anchor, served as host. Distinguished guests included Councilmember Nury Martinez and Sanitation General Manager and Director Enrique C. Zaldivar.

The event featured 100 exhibitors, conservation workshops, two stages of entertainment, a Kid’s Zone, and free trees. Free food and refreshments were available throughout the day. Attendees picked up lots of giveaways – including Sanitation’s ever-popular mini rolling cart trash cans – and kids were able to sit in the trucks and even blow the horns!

Sanitation volunteers staffed the photo booth, where attendees were able to take photos with the Drop and Mr. Recycle and receive a hard copy print to take home as a souvenir.

Thanks to Pamela Perez and Jackie Cubas, Public Works/LA Sanitation and Environment, for their assistance.
