Remembering Gerald Davis

Gerald Davis
Library/DWP
Died Oct. 25, 2018

Remembrance by Cecilia Davis, daughter

Gerald Davis started his career at the City of Los Angeles 37 years ago as a bookbinder in the Library. He later joined the DWP and moved up the ranks as a Journeyman, Lineman and finally a Supervisor. The path was not easy and he had to take numerous courses, tests and interviews throughout his time at the City. He enjoyed every minute of it. Most of all, he considered his workmates as part of his extended family. He took my brother, my sister and me to his job during the “bring your child to work day” for us to see how hard he had to work on a daily basis to provide for us.

The City of LA and the DWP are prestigious employers, and my father was proud to work for the City he was born in.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the  current and retired City employees who have passed away.
