Every year, City Departments put aside their hard work and come together for fun and socialization at their festive holiday parties. And Alive! publishes as many of your party pics as we can.

The Retired Los Angeles City Employees, Inc. (RLACEI) held its annual Christmas luncheon Dec. 6 at the Grace E. Simons Lodge near Dodger Stadium.
Wow! What a turnout. It rained most of the day, and at times it poured. The dedicated members of RLACEI braved the weather and came out to enjoy a festive time with fellow retirees.
We thank you all for attending, and thanks to Dennis Harding, RLACEI Entertainment Chair, and the RLACEI Board of Directors for putting together the event.
Members and guests were treated to a holiday meal of turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and a green bean casserole while listening to holiday music provided by a wonderful guitarist. For dessert, cherry and pumpkin pie was served. Gifts cards and even cash prizes were won by many of the members in attendance.
We bade a fond farewell to our current President, Ed Harding, who has dedicated his time and service to RLACEI for more than 24 years. With heartfelt appreciation that we honored Mr. Harding for his leadership and being the voice of RLACEI. He was presented with the gift of a gavel from his fellow Directors. City Employees Club of Los Angeles President and CEO John Hawkins; Robert Larios, Chief Operating Officer; and Cheryl Martin, Club Counselor, attended and joined in the celebration and provided gifts for attendees.
Honorable mentions: Ed and his wife, Martha, are celebrating 50 years of marriage. Also in attendance was John Shadle, who celebrated his 95th birthday in December.
Officers for the 2019-20 term were sworn in by LACERS Assistant General Manager Lita Payne. Officers installed were Ruth B. Perry, President; Tom Stemnock, First Vice President; Beverly J. Clark, Second Vice President; and Hal Danowitz, Secretary/Treasurer.
Members received an update by LACERS Health Benefits Division Manager Alex Rabrenovich on LACERS accomplishments and goals for 2019 and talked about “ALEX,” the new interactive online tool that will help members review and select the best health benefit plan for their needs.
All in attendance appeared to have had a good time, and we are looking forward to having more Retirees come out and join in the festivities and socialize with fellow retirees as they enjoy “the best years.”
