The Los Angeles City Employees Asian American Association (LACEAAA) hosted a luncheon Oct. 30 to celebrate the election of the newly elected LACERS Commissioner Annie Chao.

The luncheon took place at the City Hall East/City Hall South Courtyard.

RLACEI President Ruth Perry and Vice President Beverly Clark were in attendance as well as Councilmember John Lee and Lita Payne, LACERS Assistant General Manager, who spoke at the celebration, along with LACERS Commission Vice President Michael Wilkinson.

Annie Chao was elected to the Board of Administration of the Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System by active LACERS Members in 2016 to complete the unexpired term ending June 30, 2018. She was again elected by the active LACERS Members in 2019 to complete a five-year term ending June 30, 2023.

Ms. Chao is an Investment Officer for Fire and Police Pensions, one of the City’s other pension plans. In her current role, she is the Head of Real Estate and has overseen public equities, bonds, commodities, hedge funds and performance evaluation.

She also represents the Mayor’s Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee serving as the President of the Los Angeles City Employees Asian American Association.

Ms. Chao is a graduate of UCLA, holds a Master of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and completed Portfolio Concepts and Management from the Wharton School of Business.
