Graduations

 

Red and Lupe: Proud Grandparents

Club Members Red and Lupe Medina announced the graduations of grandchildren Hannah Franco and Emma Franco. Hannah and Emma are the granddaughters of Red Medina, Construction Inspector, Public Works/Contract Administration, Retired in 2020, and Lupe Medina, longtime Club staff member, Retired several years ago, and the daughters of Kerry Franco and Oscar Franco, Construction Inspector, Public Works/Contract Administration, 5 years of City service.

Hannah Jacqueline Franco earned a bachelor’s degree from the USC Price School of Public Policy and is pursuing a master’s degree in public policy at USC.
Emma Irene Franco graduated from Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena and plans to attend the University of Washington in the fall to study engineering. Emma was JV Swim Captain, head of Latinas Unidas, and an aspiring engineer and photographer.

Congratulations to Hannah, Emma, Oscar and Kerry, and Red and Lupe! The Club wishes Hannah and Emma all the success in the world.



 

Malik Brown
graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School and plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he plans to play football and major in computer engineering. Malik is the son of Kristal Welch, Airports, and Lisa Jordan.



 

Cameron Spencer
graduated from St. Pius X—St. Matthias Academy in Downey and plans to attend Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., majoring in film, broadcast and integrated media. He hopes to produce his own films one day. Cameron is the son of Karrie and Nataka Spencer, LADWP.



 

Deric Alexander Neal
graduated from Huntington Park High School and plans a career in the culinary or veterinarian fields. He’s the grandson of Gayle Neal, Retired, Fire and Police Pensions.



 

Christopher Solis
graduated from Canyon High School in Santa Clarita and his headed to boot camp with the US Navy to become a Navy pilot. Christopher is the son of Lisa Solis, LADWP.



 

Alyssa Estrada
graduated from Granada Hills Charter School and plans to earn her license in cosmetology. She’s the daughter of Jorge Estrada, LADWP.



 

Aliah Estrada
graduated from UC Irvine and plans to attend Cal State Northridge to pursue a master’s degree while working at Pierce College. She’s the daughter of Jorge Estrada, LADWP.



 

Xavier Hernandez
graduated from Lomita STEAM Magnet School and plans to attend Dodson Middle School in the fall. He’s the son of Oscar Hernandez, General Services.



 

Samantha Elena Alvarado
graduated with honors from Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School with a 4.57 GPA. She plans to attend UC San Diego in the fall. Samantha is the daughter of Lupe Alvarado, LA County Fire, and Jesus Alvarado, Harbor Dept./Carpentry.



 

Elizabeth Moore
graduated from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta and plans to work as a public defense attorney in San Antonio, Tex. She’s the granddaughter of Herbert Moore, Retired, Controller’s Office.



 

Antonice Collins
graduated from TEACH Tech Charter High School in South LA and plans to enroll in one of a number of colleges in which she has been accepted, studying medicine. Antonice was stricken with a life-threatening autoimmune disease but is now recuperating at home. For more information, see the Club Angels feature on page 7 and consider donating.
