Beverly Anderson

Beverly Anderson was one of three Directors installed in May and is a welcomed addition to the Board. (The RLACEI Board installed three new Directors in May and welcomed back Mike Perez, who was installed in July to serve as Golf Director.)

Beverly retired in February 2010 from the LAPD after 33 years of City service. During her City career, she worked in various departments, including Community Development, Controller’s Office, the LAFD, Airports, Public Works/Management-Employee Services, Public Works/Sanitation and the LAPD. Beverly is active in the Affirmative Action Association for Women (AAAW) and the Los Angeles City Employees Asian American Association (LACEAAA). She is also a Wellness Champion for LACERS Well, leading weekly walks at the Lakewood Center Mall (paused for COVID) and a twice-weekly hula class at the Costa Mesa Senior Center (currently Zooming).

Beverly enjoys retirement and keeps herself busy with volunteering and family. She lives in Long Beach with her husband, Gary, who retired at the start of the pandemic from the Providence Medical Institute. They have one daughter, Lisa, who graduated from UCLA and just recently was accepted into the Sustainability Management and Policy Master’s program at Cal State Long Beach.

Beverly’s recommendation to retirees: “Find your passion and do it. Plan to do all the things and activities that you did not have the time or energy to do while working.”
RLACEI’s purpose – “…to promote the common welfare, the improvement of benefits, provide the means of communicating the policies of the Retired Los Angeles City employees, to the Retired City employees and their spouses…” – is why she joined the

RLACEI Board. She feels she can still make a difference and advocate for the needs of Retirees and their spouses. Being a member of RLACEI and attending their events has kept her in touch with many other Retirees. She looks forward to serving on the RLACEI Board.
